The FFA Banquet was hosted by the Sidney Fire Department, who served an outstanding roast beef dinner. Sidney FFA members were recognized for their achievements throughout the school year. The Banquet commenced with members of the Sidney Teacher Association arriving at the banquet to announce Sidney Agriculture Teacher Jay Waltz, as the Teacher of the Years. Mr. Waltz, the Sidney Agriculture teacher and FFA advisor, was very proud of his students’ dedication, accomplishments, and leadership abilities. Mr. Waltz presented Dante Scott with the Agriscience Stars and Stripes award because of his leadership abilities and dedication to the FFA throughout the school year. Some of the highlights of the evening included Eben Bullock, the High School Principal, recognizing FFA members Elijah Williams, Remington Crandall, Michael Mazzarella, and Justin Santiago for maintaining the highest overall grade point average in their class as Agriculture Students. Mr. Bullock also recognized 12 additional students for maintaining an 80 or above average for this school year. Many students received their Greenhand Degree, as first year members, and Chapter Degree as 2nd and 3rd year members. The Sidney Rotary Club’s Larry Hulbert presented a scholarship of $310.00 to recipient Kiana Bacon to go to Oswegatchie Education Center for leadership training this summer.
